Will Adrien Brody Play Ant-Man?

Edgar Wright has long been toiling away at his Ant-Man script and storyboards, hoping to get the film greenlit sooner than later. At this week's Comic-Con, many details about almost all of Marvel Entertainment's upcoming projects will make their way to the public, but one burning question that I'm personally interested in is whether or Ant-Man will, in fact, be a part of Paramount Pictures The Avengers and, if so, who will play him.

According to AMC's John Campea, that question may have already been answered as he has received word that Adrien Brody is at the top of a shortlist for actors to play Henry Pym, who fashions technology that allows him to shrink to the size of and communicate with the insects. Latino Review confirmed the scoop from a contact at the actor's agency (Paradigm), who said that "at press time, they were pursuing Ant-Man but got nothing yet."

The Playlist has challenged the rumor, stating that they have "checked with sources very close to the project this morning and it's evidently untrue." This conflicting report also states that recent claims that fanboy favorite Nathan Fillion is also in the running for the part are untrue. Brody's significantly higher industry status suggests that, of the names mentioned, he'd be the studio's choice.

Rumor Report: Will Adrien Brody Play Ant-Man For Marvel Studios?

With the full "The Avengers" roster rumored to be revealed at Comic-Con International in just a few short days, other rumors are heating up regarding which actors will occupy the currently unfilled roles. Edward Norton'sdeparture has left Bruce Banner's purple pants up for grabs, for instance, with actor Mark Ruffalo the rumored frontrunner for the job.

But what about Hank Pym, the troubled scientist better known as Ant-Man? As the central figure of Edgar Wright's developing "Ant-Man" solo film for Marvel Studios, Pym is virtually locked for a seat on the Avengers' starting rotation when the film arrives in theaters in 2012. But who's going to play him?

Well, that depends on who you ask, as conflicting reports have emerged regarding one possible candidate: "Predators" star Adrien Brody.

Brody's possible involvement was first mentioned by John Campea of AMC's Script to Screen, who claimed: "Take this for what its worth, but I was just told Adrien Brody is most likely going to be 'Ant Man' for Edgar Wright."

The report received a further endorsement from El Mayimbe of Latino Review, who stated: "I personally checked w/ my pals at Paradigm (Adrien Brody's agency) & at press time, YES they were pursuing Ant Man but got nothing yet."

But one news outlet isn't endorsing the rumor, as The Playlist states that they have "checked with sources very close to the project this morning and it's evidently untrue." They also mentioned that rumors regarding Nathan Fillion's candidacy for Pym are also untrue.

There you have it, folks — some sides suggesting that Brody is up for Ant-Man, some saying that he isn't. With Comic-Con just a few days away, it's very likely that we're going to see official confirmation one way or the other before too much longer.

It's Official: Edward Norton is No Longer Bruce Banner / Hulk

We have full confirmation on the surprising news that broke late last night courtesy of HitFix. The same site has received an official statement from Marvel Entertainment confirming that Edward Norton

will no longer be playing Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk, and that Marvel is looking for an "unknown" to use in The Avengers. We've "made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to portray the title role of Bruce Banner in The Avengers. Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members."

Marvel president Kevin Feige, who wrote the message published on HitFix, adds: "The Avengers demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert, Chris H, Chris E, Sam, Scarlett, and all of our talented casts. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks." So that means we will find out at Comic-Con who will be in The Avengers line-up, including who will be replacing Norton in the role of Bruce Banner. So there we go. Even though I thought Norton did a damn good job his Hulk movie, he's being replaced. Thoughts ?
